FAQs
What do I get for the coaching fee?
This is one of the most common questions asked!
It is important to remember that you are enlisting a professional service rather than purchasing a product.
What you are getting for the fee is the time, experience, and expertise of a qualified Nutritionist and Coach.
The 6-step coaching process, above, is where the time is invested in an individual by a coach, and it is the time involved in this process that is reflected in the fees charged.
In addition, the fee covers access to the various resources and tools developed and utilised to help individuals on their journey to improved health and performance.
I already have a coach for my sport. Can I still work with you?
Yes! Many people have coaches for their sport/event specific programme (e.g. a running programme for an ultra event), but they do not receive any nutrition or performance conditioning advice. The Athletica Foundation Nutrition and Integrated Performance Conditioning programmes can be designed to sit alongside any existing sport specific programmes individuals may already be following.
Are you a specialist coach in any particular sport?
I am a specialist Nutritionist, and have a strong background in sport science and physical skills training. But I am not a technical skills coach in any particular sport.
I consider myself a 'specialist generalist', meaning I specialise more in the development of the physical skills and general athleticism (general physical preparedness), which can then be transferred to the technical mastery of a particular sport, potentially under specialist technical coaching in that sport.
Do you sell supplements?
I will recommend nutrition therapies and performance supplementation from time to time where it is appropriate and indicated. I do not, however, sell supplements directly myself. Where supplementation is recommended, I work with the client to source the best quality supplement required, at the most affordable price, but they purchase this directly from the retailer themselves. I do not sell any product or service for commission or otherwise, beyond my own coaching services.
Do I have to do get any lab testing performed?
Generally, no. I do not offer or sell any direct-to-consumer testing (e.g. nutrient deficiency testing, hormone testing, etc.). Apart from being expensive, some of these tests can be unreliable. Selling tests and supplements creates a conflict of interest whereby I, as the practitioner recommending the test/supplement, profits from the promotion and sale of such tests.
If any testing is required, I will work with my clients to find the best and most reliable testing available, typically through their primary health care provider (GP).
Are there any fixed term contracts?
The Foundation Nutrition Programme runs for 4-weeks and is paid in advance. The Integrated Performance Conditioning Programme runs for 12-weeks and is paid in advance (unless prior arrangement for payment instalments have been made). Any coaching subsequent to these plans are undertaken on a rolling monthly commitment.
You are free to cancel after the initial commitment period you have signed up for. Please note that cancelling your coaching plan also ends your access to any coaching apps and members-only areas used to deliver your plans and programmes and the information and resources contained within these.
How do I signup?
You can apply for coaching services by filling in the form on the contact page and I'll be in touch (generally within 48-72 hours). If you have not received a reply from me after 7-days, please check your junk/spam mail folder. Unfortunately, my email address has a tendency to trigger alarm bells on many email spam filters.
How do I pay for my coaching?
Once you have agreed to an ATHLETICA service, an invoice will be generated and sent to your nominated email address. Payment is required within 7-days of issue of this invoice. Payment can be made via credit card or internet banking.
